Therapeutic climbing in SIEMACHA Spot Magnolia

Striving for a goal, overcoming difficulties, successfully facing one’s own weaknesses, learning empathy, or the pure joy of reaching the peak. These are just a few of the many aspects developed by activities organized by the SIEMACHA Adventure Education Therapy project using its new climbing wall.

– We believe that everyone should have an opportunity to explore, discover and challenge their own skills. Our activities are therefore designed to develop emotional and social skills, as well as physical fitness. Climbing requires you to trust another person, have faith in your own skills and understand your own body, says Joanna Świst, psychotherapist, AT coach and director of SIEMACHA Spot Magnolia.Climbing is all about strengthening values and mental agility. This direction is the fundament of work with many of our beneficiaries. – she adds.

Climbing classes provide an opportunity to simultaneously develop multi-faceted skills, while the progression over difficulty levels allows the therapy to be customized to the mental and physical aptitude of every participant. – Neither age, nor body height are a limitation. Everyone can climb: small ones, big ones, or persons with disabilities. Any previous skills or pre-dispositions of climbers are of no relevance, either – says the center’s director.

SIEMACHA’s playgrounds are even more modern

The technical solutions incorporated in the climbing wall design make it a professional facility, well-adapted for both children and leisure climbers, as well as for more advanced training. Full safety of use is an important feature – every climber is fully belayed at all times. What makes our climbing wall different from other similar facilities in sports halls is primarily the social dimension of this project. The wall is a part of the SIEMACHA Spot’s modern playground installed by the Association in the Magnolia Park shopping mall in Wrocław in 2017.

The creation of the climbing wall and the therapeutic classes held here are a part of SIEMACHA Spot Magnolia’s development. We endeavor for our playgrounds to respond to the needs of our changing reality and be able to meet the challenges it poses – says Małgorzata Kabata – Żbik – Director General of the SIEMACHA Association.
